Dr. Sarah M. Dyer
Dr. Sarah M. Dyer, a resident of southern Illinois for over 12 years, currently sees children, adolescents, and adults at Hesed Comprehensive Psychological and Assessment Services in Belleville, IL. She primarily approaches therapy from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, which has been found to be effective with a variety of psychological problems and disorders. Dr. Dyer also specializes in neuropsychological assessment across the lifespan.
Dr. Dyer has clinical experience working with the following problems and diagnoses: ADHD, learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low self-esteem, post-traumatic stress, relationship problems, coping with divorce, social difficulties, oppositional behavior, dementia, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, genetic disorders, and a variety of other medical/health concerns (i.e., multiple sclerosis, cancer, hydrocephalus).
Dr. Dyer earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with specialization in neuropsychology. Previously, she earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University and graduated with honors in psychology from Princeton University. She has worked at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, NeuroRestorative Carbondale, Meier Clinics, Outreach Community Counseling Center in Carol Stream, Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders in Carbondale, Southern Illinois University Clinical Center in Carbondale, the Florida State University Psychology Clinic, and the Regional Multidisciplinary Evaluation and Consulting Center in Tallahassee.
She is currently also an adjunct professor at SIU Carbondale. Her research interests are in neuropsychological assessment and the neurobiological correlates of personality and neurocognitive functioning, especially in the context of ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, and mood disorders. She has presented her research at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital as well as a variety of national and international conventions.
