Comprehensive and Compassionate

Hesed Comprehensive Psychological and Assessment Services can meet all of your assessment, counseling, and psychotherapy needs across the lifespan.  We provide neuropsychological assessment services for learning difficulties, attention problems, memory concerns, autism spectrum disorders, and dementia/Alzheimer's disease.  We also provide counseling services for depression, anxiety, social skill development, and family/marital issues.

We bring a comprehensive and compassionate approach to each and every client.  When concerns arise at school for your child or when you begin to experience memory issues, you need a knowledgeable and skilled professional who will be able to assess the situation and help you determine the right next step.  We bring clarity to situations that otherwise feel chaotic.  Hesed is an ancient word that means steadfast love or ongoing kindness.  The one who practices "hesed" is the one who goes above and beyond that which is normally required.  We embody this in our approach.  We are here to help.

Our Assessment Process

At Hesed, we believe that our clients deserve comprehensive, high-quality assessments.  We start with a detailed clinical interview, which enables us to customize a selection of assessment tools to address each individual’s specific needs.  After the testing is complete, we provide a feedback session to explain our findings in easy-to-understand terms.  We will also provide an extensive report that summarizes the findings and provides detailed recommendations for the client and those within their circle of care (i.e., family, schools, health care providers).

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

These comprehensive assessments of cognitive and emotional functioning benefit individuals with a variety of concerns:

  • Academic or learning difficulties
  • Memory concerns
  • Problems concentrating or focusing at school/work
  • Diagnosed relevant medical conditions
    • Concussion/Head injury
    • Epilepsy
    • ADHD/ADD
    • Dementia
    • Autism Spectrum Disorders
    • Learning disability/disorders

Neuropsychological assessments can also be helpful for individuals desiring a baseline cognitive evaluation prior to certain medical procedures.  Those with a family history of cognitive difficulties or dementia can also benefit from a baseline cognitive evaluation.

Learning Disability/Educational Assessment

These cognitive assessments provide information about a student's learning strengths and weaknesses.  The student's abilities and cognitive potential are compared to others of a similar age.  Detailed reports generated from these assessments can be used to guide appropriate interventions and approaches to maximize the learning potential of the student.

Memory Assessment

Memory difficulties are among the most common complaints of individuals across the lifespan, but they are particularly common among the elderly. Formal assessment of memory helps identify if someone's memory difficulties are truly an area of concern or if they are just part of normal changes in life.  Memory is a complex process that can be disrupted in many ways. A memory assessment will help clarify if significant memory problems exist and what type of memory problems are present.

Autism Assessment

Parents, school officials, and medical providers may notice that a child is having social difficulties, sensory problems, repetitive behaviors, or difficulties with transitions. These issues can be a result of a variety of factors. Neuropsychological assessments can determine if these problems are consistent with normal development, an autism spectrum disorder, or another diagnosis.

Counseling/Psychotherapy

We provide counseling services for depression, anxiety, social skill development, parenting skills, and family/marital issues. Using evidence-based approaches, our counseling and psychotherapy sessions provide a high level of care.  We primarily approach therapy from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, which has been found to be effective with a variety of psychological problems.  We also incorporate mindfulness, emotional regulation skills and other relevant therapeutic methods.
