What to expect: three meetings, completed within 6–8 weeks

A neuropsychological evaluation at Hesed is a series of three separate meetings:

1. Intake (about 1 hour, in person or by video). We review your concerns, history and any records, and decide which questions the evaluation needs to answer.

2. Testing session (3–8 hours, in person at our St. Charles office). You complete standardized tests of attention, memory, language, reasoning, processing speed, academic skills and mood. The length depends on the questions the evaluation needs to answer.

3. Feedback session (about 1 hour, in person or by video). We go over the results in plain language, answer questions and plan next steps. Next steps can include school accommodations, therapy or coordination with your physician. Your written report is then provided electronically, usually within 24–48 hours.

Timeline: the whole process, from your first contact with us through the feedback session, is completed within 6–8 weeks. Your written report follows electronically, usually within 24–48 hours of the feedback session.

Because Hesed also offers counseling, recommendations can turn into care right here. See our Counseling page.

Telehealth: the intake and feedback sessions can be held by video for clients anywhere in Illinois. With Dr. Ben Pyykkonen, Dr. Eiko Venovic, Dr. Jen Kern or Ben Wenzel, they can also be held by video for clients in other states, including PSYPACT jurisdictions. The testing session itself is in person at our St. Charles office.
